We all know how tempting it is to succumb to “bed weather”, i.e. staying in bed longer than usual, with a bag of potato chips and soda, while the temperature drops and the rains pour. Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Manny says, “Beware of bad eating habits during the rainy season! Make sure you watch your diet and eat the right nutrients only.”
And watching what you eat means not just counting your calories, but also being aware of how the food you consume is prepared, says Dr. Pie. “Make sure the food you eat is prepared in a hygienic manner. During the rainy season, incidents of food and water-borne diseases such as viral fevers, diarrhea and hepatitis increase.” As much as possible, avoid raw food, food sold by street vendors, and drink boiled water.
